A hero

Thanks to Kim du Toit for bringing the story of this extraordinary man to my attention - and yours as well I hope. Dr. Norman Borlaug

"that whoever could make two ears of corn, or two blades of grass, to grow upon a spot of ground where only one grew before, would deserve better of mankind, and do more essential service to his country, than the whole race of politicians put together." Jonathan Swift

That reminds me why I studied Agricultural Science all those years ago ,and why I hate the Greens who are killing Africans by their opposition to progress.

If it is for africans, why not grow it in Africa?

Where did you think they were going to be grown, Elika?

I understand from your bbc that tony blair wants to grow them in britain. He has done some deals with big company and does "tests" and "accidently" release them into countryside.

It is story same to english red squirel replace by aggresive grey squirel and english peoples who are now replace by pakistan.

Your english conservatives are agianst gm because they are conservationist.

once crops replaced by gm foods all food will be gm. Long term implications gm are not know.

food evolved over million of years. it is tested on humans. If gm produces the long term sterility and deformatities it not be know for generations and then be too late.

If gm is for africa then why not test it on africa?

may be they thank you.

If you had actually read the article on Dr. Borlaug, you would have realised that he wants to use existing technology that has been successfully used in many other parts of the world, in Africa.

Read the article.
