Canada's choice

MichaŽlle Jean - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Her Excellency the Right Honourable MichaŽlle Jean, CC, CMM, COM, CD (born September 6, 1957 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti) is the current Governor General of Canada.

She sounds quite a woman! I only learnt of her appointment through Blogs and I thought it interesting, we don't hear much about Canada over here. Good news is that she renounced her French Citizenship to take the job!

Can French citizenship be renounced? Any help?

When I did a Google search for Ďrenouncing French citizenshipí it said, ďDo you mean announce? Eeek. It then highlighted proposals by Slack and Shoddy for dual French-German nationality, double eeek!

I used Yahoo and Ask Jeeves, all I got was sites that would help me become French. I guess, to the French, only the insane would voluntarily leave The Republic, therefore they must be amused until sedated and straitjacketed
