Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum

Telegraph | News | Call to ban minors from Armed Forces

Britain should be banned from recruiting "child soldiers" under the age of 18, ... according to a draft report from Europe's human rights watchdog, the Council of Europe.
The strongly-worded report, written by a Bulgarian member of the Council of Europe's parliamentary assembly...

Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

... No more little Drummer Boys....

I suppose the delicate little darlings are far better off hanging around Malls dressed as Burberry Apes and helping little old ladies across the road rather than being in the Army...

It certainly did my attitude to life and work no harm to enlist at 16 as an Infantry Junior Leader. I think those institutions should be restored, best way to get qualified techs at 18 & 19 was from the army Apprentice College! Where now? These youths all went on to be valuable assets to their regiments, corps families and communities! Some are still serving, more staying power than I!

I guess the army cadets will be next on the list. I did six years, it was superb. Where else can you get to play with guns and ride in helicopters at that age?

But I thought the minimum age for entry was tailored so that the earliest anyone could join a fighting unit was 18. Surely that's what the bleeding hearts are concerned about so why the panic?
