The ticket collectors know that the loss of a day's salary is more than the cost of a ticket.

There needs to be a penalty for the misuse of tickets against the issuer.

complete madness

This kind of thing is not funny. It illustrates the increasing disconnection (I would say it is now terminal) between them and us. Somebody on the radio this afternoon was reporting the story of a man who waited at the scene of an accident to provide the police with a statement. When they finally were ready for him they noted his kids were watching TV in the back of his car and demanded he present himself with evidence of a TV licence for said TV at an appointed place and within an appointed time. We lost the plot in this country long time ago.

I wonder if that traffic warden keeps her job. She is clearly off her rocker and trying to get her quota....It is wrong, but don't tar us all with the same brush amigo! Some of us care about the country and care about its inhabitants...

Dear Englishman,

I have been reading your blog to see how English farmers are reacting to the violence in the mid-east. Apparently they are not aware of it.

Do you feel that Britain now has a chance to help resolve the war that the free world is in?

"demanded he present himself with evidence of a TV licence for said TV at an appointed place and within an appointed time"

Since when was this the job of the police, rather than the BBC's contracted out enforcement arm? As far as I'm aware, the only thing the police can request you provide is vehicle documentation....

"I have been reading your blog to see how English farmers are reacting to the violence in the mid-east"

How curious - have you also been reading 'Random Acts of Reality' to see how ambulance drivers are reacting, and 'PooterGeek' to see how photographers are reacting....?
