You may be drinking more than you think - Times Online
A £10 million campaign to tell adult drinkers exactly how much alcohol they are consuming is announced by the Government today. The “Know Your Limits” campaign aims to reduce binge drinking among the over-25s by reminding social drinkers to stay within recommended limits.
It isn't the over 25s who are fighting on the streets, it isn't the over 25s who are learning about alcohol for the first time, it isn't the bloody over 25s who need to be educated about some limits that were just plucked out of the air, not based on any firm evidence at all."
But it is the over 25s who have to pay for this through their taxes; it's about time that the nannies "Knew Their Limits".

10 million squids on a campaign!
Do you know how many pints of Old Peculiar that would pay for?
Well...er ... a lot!

There's something rather sinister about this campaign. It's being aimed at middle-aged, middle class drinkers. Why is ZaNu Labour having a pop at the middle classes? Is this to try to reassure there core "working class" supporters that Class War is back on track? And what are Caroline Flint and Dawn Primorollo if not middle class? Where's that piece of rope? I wonder if it would stretch to two lengths.

"Why is ZaNu Labour having a pop at the middle classes?"
Because they think somewhere, there might be a member of the Middle Classes that isn't p****d off with them, and they want to make absolutely sure that they target that person and lose the next election. God knows, nothing else makes sense!

Another government initiative misses the mark. This does nothing to address the causes of binge-drinking and will therefore fail.

Let's face it... we'd all be gobsmacked if a government initiative did hit its target, wouldn't we? By the way, should we really be using the term 'initiative'?

I am a remarkably pacific drunk. The last time I threw up due to too much alcohol was when I was 19, two decades ago. I don't make a nuisance of myself, and I don't drink the night before I have to work. It's my liver to do with as I see fit. So what, in the holy hell, does it have to do with the bloody Government how much I drink?
Thank God I emigrated when I did.

So, two pints of beer or lager per day constitutes "binge" drinking? One pint at sixPM and one at elevenPM is a "binge" now?
Look eedjuts, binge drinkers know quite well they are drinking to excess, some once a year and some daily: they are not going to pay attention to this campaign. It will only serve to scare off the poor soul who takes a shot-glass of sherry once a fortnight.
