Remember, Remember The 5th November

Terrorism Act 2006 (c. 11)...offences include every statement which—

(a) glorifies the commission or preparation (whether in the past, in the future or generally) of such acts or offences; and

(b) is a statement from which those members of the public could reasonably be expected to infer that what is being glorified is being glorified as conduct that should be emulated by them in existing circumstances.

.... it is a defence for him to show-

(a) that the statement neither expressed his views nor had his endorsement...

Let me make clear that any blowing up of Parliament is very naughty and doesn't have my endorsement - that should keep me out of clink....

I went on OH's walk today. The PCSO's threw the Terrorism Act at us but it was OK - we caught it. Case proven. You can't go for a walk in 21st century England any more. There is something seriously wrong with this country.

I was under the impression that we celebrate on 5th November, the preservation of our parliamentary democracy (against the then great concern of papist conspiracy) through the capture and (rather brutal by modern standards) burning at the stake of one of the perpetrators.

One gets the impression, now, that government views this celebration as anti-government.

How very strange.

Best regards

I feel very sorry for those Amercian Colonist cousins of ours who live & work amongst us who want to celebrate the 4th July, that "Revolution " to overthrow British rule in the Amercian Colonies, no taxation without representation, etc, etc. They commit an act of terrorism every time they light a match on that day!

Same goes for the Asian community here, in fact anywhere which has fought us at one time or another to achieve independence from British Rule, quite a few different peoples around the world I expect with decendants living over here! ("A Matter of Life & Death" with David Niven). If they didn't feel oppressed before they certainly are entightled to now.

Is there not a famous quote to the effect that Fawkes was "the only person ever to enter the Houses of Parliament with honest intent"
