Finally One Genuine Good Reason To Welcome ID Cards

Britain will suffer cultural and economic damage from the introduction of identity cards for foreigners, preventing stars such as Madonna staying in the UK....

Englishman, this is an uncharacteristically unkind and ill-judged post. Whatever you think of Madge's oeuvre, she is one of the largest generators of royalty payments on the planet. When she moved from the USA to the UK, she made a measurable difference in the two countries' rankings in the intellectual property revenues league tables. I can't find the reference right now, but I think she may even have single-handedly put the UK in first place. Soaking the rich and bitching at the successful is surely the exclusive remit of our talent-free communist masters and their running dogs? I think it's amazingly sporting of Madonna to pay the UK's higher taxes and she deserves to be thanked, not scorned. This sort of thing does not become you.

Sporting? When she snaffled one of the best, if not the best, high bird shooting estates in Wiltshire and not the hint of an invitation for a day fluttered my way? I don't call that sporting.

I beg to differ. Bitching at Madonna is not bitching at a successful, it is bitching at a, well, bitch. The "bitching...successful" argument can effectively dicredit any criticism one doesn't like. The fact that she made a considerable difference in the British/American intellectual property rankings ought to lead to a re-evaluation of the definition of "intellectual" in those countries, not to an apology of Madonna.

That a "conservative", who ought to stand for family values, should defend that slag because she is successful, is rather funny (both, peculiar and haha).

And no, to anticipate the standard knee-jerk riposte: I am neither talent-free, nor a communist, nor a dog, running or not.

However, to say finally something nice about her, at least she pisses off the Animal Rights creeps, even if it is for horribly vulgar reasons.
