As we speak, my girlfriend and her son are down in Clear Lake, about seventy-five miles southeast of here. She and CJ spent seven hours in the ballroom last night (where she and I listened to Jonny Lang back in September), being trod upon by the way-over-capacity crowd -- and swept by rumors that Paul McCartney was going to show up. This died the death, and then it was maybe going to be Mick Jagger. Finally, they did get some unheard-of stock car racer.... Moi? Well, very possibly, Buddy Holly would have just done a big fade had he lived. He was just getting involved with a real tight band setup at the time of the crash and could well have wound up way over-produced or something. Although maybe not, new tapes just dug up (and, a cut aired on 'Radio 4' yesterday) reveal that at home he was as experimental as could be.... Moi? Well, Hell, yeah, I'd have gone on down if it hadnbeen Boris Balan and Yello, or Cab Voltaire or something. Or Laurie Anderson, I reckon.
