BBC faces One-eyed-idiotgate row
Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson calls Gordon Brown a 'one-eyed Scottish idiot, he keeps telling us everything's fine and he's saved the world and we know he's lying, but he's smooth at telling us.' - Telegraph
Scottish politicians reacted angrily to the remark.
Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray said: "Such a comment is really a reflection on Jeremy Clarkson and speaks for itself.
"Most people here are proud that the Prime Minister is a Scot and believe him to be the right person to get the UK through this global economic crisis."
Gordon Banks, Labour MP for Ochil and South Perthshire, branded the comments "unforgivable".
The BBC and Downing Street declined to comment.

"Most people are proud"....On what evidence...?? They don't even hold a majority the Scottish parliament.
I reckon if they had a poll, Jeremy Clarkson would score a higher approval rating than the one-eyed thief.
Iain Gray......Moron.
Regards.

"Most people ..... believe him to be the right person to get the UK through this global economic crisis."
Thereby proving that most people in Scotland are thick as pig's poo. Who'd have thought it?

Clarkson said three things about Brown. That's he's one-eyed (fact), Scottish (fact) and an idiot (opinion). It's interesting that his supporters were mostly upset by the second fact and didn't trouble to dispute the opinion.

"....and believe him to be the right person to get the UK through this global economic crisis."
Clearly there is not a shortage of idiots from where the one-eyed one came from.

It's fortunate that Clarkson didn't call him a golliwog!

Gordon Banks: sadly, he is my MP.
Well, as I go about, mostly talking to Scottish small business types admittedly, I find no-one to defend our one-eyed, Scottish idiot. Trouble is, we don't fancy the alternatives much either. A bad time to be a Scot: our most famous names make us cringe with embarrassment or incandescent with anger.
Where's my hempen rope? It was around here somewhere...

The problem is that many people from Scotland have lost all Scottishness. Scottish Scots are thrifty, careful with money, don't spend any more than they have to. Think of Gordon Brown, Alastair Darling, Fred Goodwin. Thrifty? Careful with money? Reluctant to spend? Er . . .
No real Scot is proud of Brown - or of Darling or Goodwin. These men may be Sassenachs, they may be be be Italian, they may be Zimbabwean, but they are not Scottish.

I've only been away 5 days and apparently most people support Gordon Brown...what the hell happened?

I'm sure Brown, Darling and Goodwin are thrifty, John, with their own money that is. It is amazing how people's attitude to money changes when it is other people's money, especially when whatever happens you know your retirement is underwritten by the taxpayer.
