Your Tax Money at Work in the NHS
BBC NEWS | England | Wiltshire | Hospital smoke wardens criticised
A Wiltshire hospital has been criticised for employing two full-time no-smoking wardens to patrol its grounds.
Bosses at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon imposed a smoking ban on the site last year.
A hospital spokesman said it was an effective move and claimed the number of smokers had decreased.
But the Taxpayers' Alliance said it was not a justifiable use of money which should go on primary healthcare.
Terri Stevans, from the hospital added: "It is our duty to protect our patients. We are not telling them not to smoke, just that this is a non-smoking site.

When I was younger, much younger, I could never understand how the Nazi party came to wield such power and influence over people that they were able to commit mass-murder in plain sight.
Now that I have seen just a glimpse of the utter lack of any hint of intelligence in most of my fellow humans I understand.

I know what The Mrs. would do. She'd stand in the street, make sure there was a tailwind, and blow smoke into the hospital grounds. Maybe the good people of Swindon should do a mass "smoke-blow"...

Oh. Gosh, I'm glad to have that cleared up. Banning smoking, and extensive enforcement of same, does not mean one cannot smoke. Righty-oh, then.
Elsewhere, a driver was fined for smoking with a "child" in the car. While police wrote the ticket, the child stood by the auto, smoking...
*Ticket for smoking*
Ashton was transporting several passengers, including a 15-year-old girl. While the ticket was being written, the girl -- who is a smoker -- got out of the car and legally lit up a cigarette.
