Alcohol related deaths have trebled in the past 25 years to reach 8,999 last year.
I love the precision in that figure, no reckless rounding up of numbers to make a political point for them!

I love the way that journalists don't seem to understand the difference between "alcohol related" and "due to drinking". It's the former that is going up, while the later is probably going down. The change in alcohol related deaths is almost entirely due to changes in how these figures are counted.
