Science Museum Prove It - you need to vote again
Science Museum - Home - PROVE IT!

They are rerunning the vote - I guess they didn't like the answer! - It now has an email verification step.
Since I snapped the page a couple of minutes ago the vote has changed to 2 in 8 out.
Time to stand up and be counted.
Comments
And it's still not going their way. 3 in for 25 out just now.

They really are trying hard to 'convince' you here to vote in favor. You vote against it, and it asks you if you are sure and don't want to look at the evidence again. I bet it you select 'count me in' there is some sort of praise for making the right decision. I think the choices they are looking for at the Science Museum poll are 'Totally Support' and 'Somewhat Support' taking stronger action at Copenhagen.

As at 1820 it is 6 in and 53 out!
And the same site has frozen!

6 in and 55 out at 1820. I've suggested they may be wrong.

Well spotted.
It wasn't just us lot rigging it, y'know, "Outs" had been consistently outnumbering "Ins" by 5 to 1 but a day or two ago "In" suddenly drew level, several thousand votes in one day.

5430 counted in so far 6529 counted out so far at 19.04 - some strange voting numbers, have they added back in the earlier ones? Have they got the UN in to observe the poll?

Just voted and the count is:
5430 counted in so far 6540 counted out so far

And your website is still on British Summer Time, lol.

At 19:00 we have 5430/6531. To be fair, David, I'm a suspicious bloke so checked both options and they both have Are You Sure with the same wording. And as for options, I'd suggest "Yes! I'm a brain-dead lemur on crack and support this!" and "I listen to real scientists" as the two alternatives.

At 19.30 PM the Count Me Out's have 55% of the votes.

I've been plotting the progress from the start. They seem to have reverted to the original poll figures. I would guess they have seen the way the new one is going, and decided the original would give them a better chance of crying "foul".

It should be mentioned that it is now half term so the museum is full of credulous young minds who like free badges and tapping away on free terminals.
I took a handful of badges as I felt the sentiment of 'PROVE IT' is scientifically sound even if hopelessly misappropriated in this instance.

Blimey things are looking up at the BBC. I've just read this from a proper journalist, no other than Andrew Neil.

Check it out, things may be starting to look up.

Strange that the numbers jumped from 6 / 55 when posted by Kevin at 7:21PM, and jumped to 5430 / 6529 when our Englishman posted at 8:06PM. ~11,500 votes in the space of 45 minutes? SHENANIGANS.

When I posted my vote yesterday the count was 431 count me in to 1805 count me out. Looks like some ballot box stuffing is going on. No matter, I shall simply re register and protest the vote rigging.

Not sure if it is just me but when I look at the page now the "count me out" box is just grey with no writing on it. It is only when you hover over it that you see it saying "Count me out".
This could be just poor writing of the website or my old IE6 browser but, unsurprisingly, I can see the "count me in" box as intended!

Looks like they didn't get the result they were looking for and changed the poll again. 764 for 768 against. They've also prevented me from voting again because my addy is already used. I smell a rat. A big fat juicy one!

Just voted, out of course. Did not see any numbers on it, are they cheating again?

And now it's 5217 IN and 764 OUT. This isn't so much fiddling the figures as just inventing them.

This is unbelievable. It's just changed to 764 IN and 5220 OUT. Too many complaints received about fiddling the figures even for them?
Posted by: Mark Forster | October 28, 2009 5:20 PM
Now:
774 counted in so far 5284 counted out so far

Dear Science Museum - You asked me what I think ?
You are fiddling these figures faster than a 'climate scientist' with a hockey stick on research grant day.

Mark and his successors are quite right. Wednesday evening, and there are suddenly about 800 in and 5,300 out.
Earlier today, it was around 5,000 each side.
They really are pathetic, but at least the latest figures are consistent with the last numbers on the previous poll.

The poll was spammed from an article on WUWT http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/10/23/and-then-what-happens/#more-12043
You can see from the comments how there was a robospam and how people boasted of mutliple voting.
Watts' update says that he does not condone ballot stuffing, but as his comments are moderated why did he allow the vote rigging comments through?
Before his article, you can see from the screen shot he took that the vote stood at 333 In vs 234 Out
