SuperGordon To Save The World Before Sunday

Prospect of Copenhagen climate deal recedes as key elements unravel - Times Online

Gordon Brown will arrive in Copenhagen tonight as world leaders face the humiliating prospect of having little of substance to sign on Friday, when they are supposed to be clinching a historic deal on climate change.

The Prime Minister, who will be the first senior leader at the summit, has more to lose than most because he has effectively staked his reputation on securing a robust agreement.

Last night, key elements of the proposed deal were unravelling....

The basic problem is that the African countries want the rich countries to give them more cash as whitey has screwed up their weather. Luckily SuperGordon is the international statesman best suited to sort out a tricky problem like this. He always just gives in and gives away our money to anyone who asks for it.

"The Prime Minister, who will be the first senior leader at the summit, has more to lose than most because he has effectively staked his reputation on securing a robust agreement."

His reputation? Then he hasn't staked very much by all accounts.

Still, we here in the Thuggish Petro-State Formerly Known As Canada have our own delightfully wacky politicos too.

The western provinces of our dear Dominion are experiencing record low temps. My fellow subjects of HM The Queen reading this from the comfort of your cosy cottages in the Home Counties, brace yourselves. I am not talking about a dusting of snow and a chillier morning walk than usual with the labs in the Chilterns (the quilt liner in the Barbour sort of day). I am talking about -30° C to -50° C. Yes. As one who has camped out in those temperatures while serving the guns in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, I can tell you, the early morning stand-to on the gun position certainly focused the mind!

But to the point of my posting. Witness the witless Linda Duncan, a leftie "progressive" MP out of Edmonton (we all know the type) who tweets:

"Will the record deepfreeze across the prairies finally silence the last of the climate change deniers?"

Orwell would have been proud of her!
