The Green Rip Off

The Green Rip Off
Green taxes have risen to £26.4 billion in the last year.
That is up £1.7 billion from £24.7 billion in 2007/08.
The total cost of Britain’s emissions was £4.6 billion in 2008/09 under the IPCC estimate of social cost.
That means green taxes were excessive by £21.8 billion in 2008/09 under the IPCC estimate of social cost.

That is the point The Telegraph fails to understand. Let us just accept the IPCC position that each tonne of CO2 imposes a cost on society, a cost they have worked out. Being good little boys and girls we ought to pay that cost. That would be £4.6 Billion last year. But we paid £26.4 Billion. That is a rip off. And they wonder why people believe Green Taxes are just money raising cons.
