Gummer follows Ted Heath's example.
John Gummer quits as MP to force more passion out of West on climate change - Times Online
John Gummer is to leave the House of Commons to lead a new international campaign to make Britain, the US and other developed countries take more responsibility for fighting climate change.
He also defended China’s role at the Copenhagen conference, saying that it had been blamed unfairly; "China has moved its position enormously, by engaging in the process and making commitments on emissions. But there is a real political issue over the attitude of Americans to climate change, and getting them to understand how it poisons relationships between America and the rest of the world.”
John Prescott (Professor of Climate Change at a Xiamen University and the Council of Europe climate change rapporteur) said that the United States shared the blame for the lack of a legally-binding deal at this month’s summit, and rejected suggestions that China “wrecked” a global agreement on cutting emissions.
Smell, what smell? Pecunia non olet and old failed politicians have to cover their own expenses now.
