Thousands to die from exposure to second hand gingerism

Smokers back extension of ban to play areas and cars carrying children | Life and style | The Observer

ginger%20whinger.jpgDame Helena Shovelton, chief executive of the British Lung Foundation, said the findings showed the government had to act. "Smoking just one cigarette, even with the car window open, creates a greater concentration of secondhand smoke than a whole evening's smoking in a pub or a bar," Shovelton said. "A ban on smoking in the car with children would prevent some of the 22,000 new cases each year of asthma, caused as a direct result of passive smoking.

Lottery chairman resigns over 'media insults' - Telegraph
DAME Helena Shovelton has resigned as chairman of the National Lottery Commission. She blamed increased media coverage over the People's Lottery debacle which she said amounted to "vilification against me personally".

So please don't insult the Ginger Whinger, she may get all huffy and leave....

I don't understand this.
The rates of childhood asthma do seem to be rising, but "when I were a lad" and smoking was commonplace, I can't recall any playmates wheezing or otherwise short of breath. Were the wheezy ones kept at home?
Perhaps there are more causes of asthma than just second-hand tobacco smoke.

We have the no smoking in cars with kids rule here in South Australia.

"Smoking just one cigarette, even with the car window open, creates a greater concentration of secondhand smoke than a whole evening's smoking in a pub or a bar,"

But you can't smoke in a pub or bar, you dozy woman. (In which case I suppose she's right.)

"Smoking just one cigarette, even with the car window open, creates a greater concentration of secondhand smoke than a whole evening's smoking in a pub or a bar,"

This is patently cockwaffle. If I smoke in the car with the window open then the smoke goes out of the fucking window thanks to the aerodynamics of the car and the air rushing past at 60mph outside causing drag. The same does not occur in a stationary building unless there is a 60mph wind rushing past the window.. Therefore anything this contemptible hag says should be considered weapons grade bullshit.
