Moonbat - Deniers are Unscientific Oil Funded Monkeys

For deniers, politics beats the science. George Monbiot - The Guardian

The further to the right you travel, the more likely you are to insist that man-made climate change isn't happening. Denial has nothing to do with science and everything to do with politics.
It is also true that in some respects an antagonism to climate science is consistent with rightwing – especially neoliberal – politics. The philosophy of the new right is summarised by this chilling statement from Václav Klaus. "Human wants are unlimited and should stay so."
The politics have been shaped around the demands of industrial lobby groups – which in many cases fund those who articulate them. Rightwingers are making monkeys of themselves not just because their beliefs take precedence over the evidence, but also because their interests often take precedence over their beliefs.
A fully referenced version of this article can be found on George Monbiot's website

"The further to the right you travel, the more likely you are to insist that man-made climate change isn't happening. Denial has nothing to do with science and everything to do with politics."

To expand: The further left, the more likely to believe. If denial has nothing to do with science then the whole spectrum of belief and denial also has nothing to do with science, belief in man made climate change has nothing to do with science.

And why is noting "human wants are unlimited" chilling?

I'm still waiting for my cheque from the oil companies to arrive :-(

Me too, Mark, as I've complained before!

Same with me. Being even a minor 'cheerleader of climate change denial' for evil industrial capitalists doesn't come cheap you know.

As any fule kno, we'd all be on Moonbats side if we weren't being paid wouldn't we? I'd go and take the piss in person, but sitting targets are no fun at all.

I'd post this at the grauniad, but then I'd have to register, which would be used to justify that useless screed to potential advertisers.

Boy George, I think you are arguing from opposites here. Because you see that all proponents of CAGW are leftists, you assume that all opponents are rightists. Many people are skeptical because they are rational.

'Boy George, I think you are arguing from opposites here. Because you see that all proponents of CAGW are leftists, you assume that all opponents are rightists.'

Spot on Robert. Surely Moonbat is aware that one of the leading sceptics on this side of the pond is Piers Corbyn ?(brother of Jeremy, and 40 years ago a leading light in anarcho-squatter circles!).

I suppose Moonbat is just back from his hols and cruising on autopilot a la Hillary Clinton about the 'vast, right wing conspiracy'.

Moonbat has never answered my sceptical questions (by email). I guess he is too (self-)important to stoop to the level of talking to a climate realist. So it's not surprising he can spout about right-wing deniers and not notice his own leftist belief-system bias - what Private Eye calls "mote & beam" department.

It's rather sad that so many young people have swallowed the guff now masquerading as education, the BBC's propaganda, the Gore bullshit, etc., and feel sufficiently incensed by the projected threat to actually cause damage to buildings in the name of AGW. I think we should besiege the green MP, Lucas, with FOI requests, environmental issues, etc., so her office is overwhelmed.

Re oil: where are the protests about the price of fuel? When petrol approached 90 pence per litre there were mass protests with tractors blocking roads and lorries clogging up motorways. Now it's over 110 pence per litre and the sheeple have accepted it. Why?

"Now it's over 110 pence per litre and the sheeple have accepted it. Why?"

My guess is it's because you're over the psychological hump of a pound a litre.

Only one thing to do: get those famous British taxes on petrol jacked up at the forecourts again! Onwards to two pounds! Once you reach about 190p, the tractors and lorries will reappear. Mark my words!
