When I began drafting my upcoming book The Eagle Has Crashed last January, I made a lot of predictions about the state of the world by 2029. When I described the international reserve currency as a basket of currencies that included the deutschmark, I implicitly predicted the abandonment of the euro, as well as the displacement of the U.S. dollar as the sole reserve currency. It's amazing how fast things change as both seem far more likely than a mere ten months ago.
