Oz Alarmism - Have Your Say

Smoking, cancer and climate change

Were the devastating floods in Queensland caused by climate change? Quite possibly but not certainly. Was the devastating cyclone in Queensland stronger than it would have been without a changing climate? Quite probably but not certainly. Were the devastating bush fires on Melbourne’s Black Saturday exacerbated by climate change? Very, very likely but not certainly.
What is certain, however, is that the increasing frequency of all those extreme events was predicted by climate scientists long ago. And what is almost equally certain is that they would not have happened at all, or would have been more benign, if we hadn’t been emitting all that CO2 for the last 100 years.
The climate is an angry beast, and we are poking a stick at it.

Looks like a backdoor way to try to elevate the arguement without the effort required to provide proof. This isn't the worst flod in the history of Australia. It isn't the worst cyclone ever and it certainly isn't the worst fire season. So what caused all those other disasters many of which happened before humans began creating CO2??? Did the aboriginals breathe too much CO2 and cause past historic climate related events or is the very more likely answer that our earth has cyclical warming and cooling periods and numerous small and large scale weather extremes all the time. The climate alarmism is no different from religious superstition that caused ignorant people to believe that sacrificing a virgin to the volcano gods would appease them and stop the natural disaster. The only difference is this time the religion is cloaked in science and they want to sacrifice our future and our freedoms to appease the AGW gods. Ask yourself why it is that every so-called "solution" to this problem involves the citizens giving large sums of money to governments and giving up rights and control of our lives.

What is certain, however, is that an increasing frequency of extreme events was incorrectly predicted by climate scientists long ago. And what is also likely is that they would have happened anyway, if we hadn’t been emitting all that CO2 for the last 100 years.
The climate is unpredictable, we may be poking a stick at it, but the stick probably isn’t CO2.

Why bother?
